Overview
- Location
- Two locations, both reachable after joining the Forest Hunter covenant: (1) Darkroot Garden, outside Alvina's structure; (2) Blighttown, at the bottom elevator, after being spoken to in Darkroot Garden.
- Access condition
- Requires having joined the Forest Hunter covenant to meet him at all.
- Can die
- yes
- Death or hostility conditions
- Remains friendly unless provoked directly. If the player abandons the Forest Hunter covenant, or if Alvina disappears after certain events, Forest Hunter members (including Shiva's own bodyguard) turn hostile toward the player. Shiva himself can be killed through combat or poison damage, dropping an Iron Round Shield.
- Keeps selling if hostile survives
- not documented
- Dialogue progression
- No dedicated questline beyond his role as a covenant-gated vendor and optional fight.
- Relocates
- yes
- Relocation note
- Darkroot Garden -> Blighttown (bottom elevator), after being spoken to in Darkroot Garden.
- Note
- His bodyguard (not separately sourced here) is the sole source of the Dark Wood Grain Ring in the base game since it's directly adjacent to Shiva's own entry. The cited fandom page's actual weapon inventory (Flamberge, Stone Greatsword, Demon Great Machete, Shotel, Uchigatana, Washing Pole, Demon's Greataxe, Claw, Demon's Spear) does not include Murakumo at all, and Murakumo is not found in the third-party research tables either; the Murakumo claim has been removed from both the sales list and the death-drop description as unsupported.

|---|---|---|---|
| independent third-party research, third-party research tables | third-party research | 2026-09-24 | Named exotic weapons (Murakumo, Uchigatana, Washing Pole, Flamberge) were searched for under several Japanese renderings and NOT found in third-party research table -- the '5,000-20,000 range' figure remains the only sourced data for this gap. |
