Location

Initially imprisoned at the top floor of the Undead Parish church. Later relocates to Firelink Shrine (after killing Anastacia), then to Anor Londo as an invadable enemy.

Access condition

His cell can be unlocked with the Master Key or the Mystery Key (found in an underground room behind the Undead Parish's main gate).

Death or hostility conditions

Rewards a Sunlight Medal for being freed. Regardless of whether he was ever freed and summoned, he becomes permanently hostile once the player rings both Bells of Awakening or collects the Fire Keeper Soul in Blighttown -- at that point he travels to Firelink Shrine and kills Anastacia, stealing her soul and extinguishing her bonfire (see Anastacia of Astora's record). He then relocates to Anor Londo, invadable via the Black Eye Orb dropped at Anastacia's corpse; he summons two allies to help him there. Defeating him drops the Fire Keeper Soul needed to revive Anastacia. Alternatively, the player can kill him immediately at Firelink Shrine (e.g. by kicking him off the edge) to get his equipment early, at the cost of permanently preventing Anastacia's rescue.
